NWU will open its first of nearly 35 student-directed plays this weekend with "The Effects of Gamma Rays on Man-In-The-Moon Marigolds."

The production will be held September 1-3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Studio Theatre, located at 2710 N. 48th Street, just two blocks west of campus.

The show follows Beatrice, a single mother of two daughters, Ruth and Tillie. Together they try to make sense of their dysfunctional family and their abysmal status in life.

The shows are free and open to the public.
