NWU Sorority to Hold Fundraiser for Former Student Battling Leukemia
A Nebraska Wesleyan University sorority will hold a fundraiser to help defray medical costs for a former sorority sister who was recently diagnosed with leukemia.
Willard Sorority will host a dinner called “A Kure for Kensie” on Thursday, March 10 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the sorority house, located at 51st Street and Madison Ave. Backyard Burgers will cater the meal. Tickets are $5 in advance from any Willard Sorority member; $6 at the door.
Proceeds will help defray medical costs for 20-year-old McKensie Straka of Kearney, a former Nebraska Wesleyan University student and Willard Sorority member. On February 5, Straka was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia.
