The Cooper Center is now accepting applications to be a Cooper Center Consultant for the 2011-2012 term.
Job Description: Student consultants will assist students, faculty, and staff with writing, oral communication, and/or study skill projects on a one-on-one basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
help clients assess the strengths and weaknesses of their writing/speaking
provide clients with techniques and suggestions for written and/or oral communication processes
provide clients with study skill techniques
attend training sessions before beginning work
serve the weekly hours scheduled by the supervisor/director
attend and participate in weekly staff meetings
report to the supervisor/director on problems or issues connected with the center
support the operations of the center by assisting with publicity of events, attending Cooper Center seminars, reporting on their experiences to students and faculty in their major departments, and conducting orientations to the center for individual groups/classes
perform other duties related to the position at the request of the supervisor/director
Special skills/knowledge required:
excellent written and oral communication skills
computer technology skills
knowledge of composition/communication theory (training provided)
