NWU to Honor Martin Luther King, Jr. With Activities

Nebraska Wesleyan University will honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with several activities planned January 17-27.

The events are sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Programs and Services with support from University Ministries, MOSAIC, MAMV, Lincoln Public School District, and F Street Community Center.

The following is a schedule of events:

Monday, January 17

  • Youth rally — 9 a.m., UNL Student Union
  • March to State Capitol—10 a.m.
  • MLK Jr. Program — 10:30 a.m.

Tuesday, January 18

  • 40 Days of Nonviolence Pledge —10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Story Student Center lobby

Wednesday, January 19

  • 40 Days of Nonviolence Pledge — 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Story Student Center lobby
  • Service learning events with community partners — 3 to 4:30 .m., F Street Recreation Center, 1225 F Street

Thursday, January 20

  • 40 Days of Nonviolence Pledge — 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Story Student Center lobby
  • Chapel service celebrating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. — 1 to 2 p.m., University Chapel (Old Main)

Thursday, January 27

  • Community Panelist Discussion — “A Dream Come True or A Dream Deferred: Turning the Page Forward on Achieving Educational Equality”, 7 p.m., Callen Conference Center
