Here are pictures from the Diriomo, Nicaragua reconstruction project that
followed the earthquake in July 2000. Many of you
donated money to help my friends in Diriomo rebuild their homes. Thank you! The reconstruction project was executed by the Cooperativa de Desarrollo Comunal, San Isidro, R.L. and by the Fundacion Manolo Morales (FMM). These pictures were taken by Beth Curtis. Beth tells me that from the donations, 13 new homes were built. The homes have metal rods in the 4 corners to make them earthquake resistant. New efficient stoves were also built with the donations. The last picture is a beautiful view of Mombacho Volcano, which is near Diriomo (the two people walking are Carlos Osejo of the FMM on the left and Jorge Vasconcelos of the Cooperativa on the right).
