Graduation Update: Information for Parents of Seniors
NWU confers degrees in December and May of each year; however, Commencement is held only in May. December graduates normally participate in the graduation ceremonies the following May, but may choose to participate in ceremonies the previous May.
Here are some important dates to remember in the graduation process:
March-April
Order cap and gown and invitations through the Prairie Wolves’ Bookstore. Seniors will receive information early in March regarding this and other graduation details.
May 17, 2:45 p.m.
Final Walk begins at Knight Field House. Students, faculty, staff, and Baccalaureate participants take a final walk across the campus from Knight Field House to the First United Methodist Church. Final Walk serves as the “bookend” to the Matriculation Walk they took as first-year students following their Matriculation Convocation.
May 17, 3 p.m.
Baccalaureate at First United Methodist Church. Family and friends are encouraged to attend this traditional worship service at First United Methodist Church, 50th Street and Saint Paul Avenue, prior to Commencement. Immediately following the Baccalaureate service, seniors assemble on the front steps of the church for the official class picture.
May 17, 5 p.m.
Commencement Reception at Taylor Commons. A reception for 2008 graduates, family, and friends will be held prior to the commencement ceremony. Taylor Commons is the green space located just east of Cochrane Woods Library. (In the case of inclement weather, Commencement events will be held in Snyder Arena within the Weary Center.)
May 17, 6:30 p.m.
Commencement at Taylor Commons.
