Academic Search Premier (1975 - current) "The world's largest academic multi-disciplinary database, Academic Search Premier provides full text for nearly 4,600 scholarly publications, including full text for more than 3,500 peer-reviewed journals." - EBSCO  Additionally, this database offers indexing and abstracts for all 8,043 journals in its collection. Areas of coverage includes social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, physics, chemistry, languages and linguistics, arts and literature, medical sciences, ethnic studies, and many more. Updated daily.

The American Civil War: Letters and Diaries - Contains 2,009 authors and approximately 100,000 pages of diaries, letters and memoirs. Includes 4,000 pages of previously unpublished manuscripts. The collection also includes biographies, an extensive bibliography of the sources in the database, and material licensed from The Civil War Day-by-Day by E.B. Long.

ArticleFirst (1990 - current) INDEX. Contains citations to articles from over 15,000 periodicals. Subjects indexed include business, humanities, medicine, social sciences, and technology. Accessed via FirstSearch.


Black American Women Writers - The database contains fiction, poetry, and essays from three continents and 20 countries. New content is uploaded on a biweekly basis, and currently features over 29,000 pages of poetry and prose.

Black Thought and Culture: African Americans from Colonial Times to the Present - A "source for the published works of numerous historically important black leaders. Along with well-known works, the collection features approximately 5,000 pages of unique, fugitive, and never-before-published materials. Subjects indexed include colonialism, socialism, Marxism, democracy, capitalism, the Labor movement, segregation, poverty, education, religion, sharecropping, Jim Crow laws, the New Deal, the World Wars," and many more.

Books in Print (Current) INDEX. Bibliographic, book ordering and subject classification information for currently published titles. Includes books covering all subjects provided they are commercially available in the U.S. Updated monthly.  Available via the Nebraska Library Commission.

Britannica Online (Current) FULL TEXT. The online version of the Encyclopaedia Britannica. A collection of authoritative references, including Britannica's latest article database, hundreds of articles not yet in the print version. Updated daily.

British and Irish Women's Letters and Diaries - Includes the immediate experiences of approximately 500 women, in over 100,000 pages of diaries and letters.  The collection now includes primary materials spanning more than 300 years.

British Medical Journals Online - BMJ - Citations and Full text. "This site launched in May 1995 and contains the full text of all articles published in the weekly BMJ since January 1994. In addition, it contains material that is unique to the website. Currently access to the entire site is free. From 2005, some users will have to pay for some content..," from the BMJ website.

CINAHL Plus with Full Text - provides citations and full text articles for more than 3,001 journals from the fields of nursing and allied health, with indexing back to 1937.

Clinical Pharmacology -- provides access up-to-date, concise and clinically-relevant drug monographs for all U.S. prescription drugs, hard-to-find herbal and nutritional supplements, over-the-counter products and new and investigational drugs.

College Source - An online repository of over 29,000 college and university course catalogs. You may search by program, institution, and even nicknames like "Ole Miss." Covers the offerings of two- and four-year schools as well as graduate programs.

CQ Researcher Online - (1991-current): This is an online version of the printed CQ Researcher that contains original, comprehensive reporting and analysis on issues in the news. It offers in-depth, non-biased coverage of political and social issues, with regular reports on topics in health, international affairs, education, the environment, technology and the U.S. economy.


Early Encounters in North America - Contains 1,482 authors and over 100,000 pages of letters, diaries, memoirs and accounts of early encounters between Native Americans and Europeans, Africans, and others.

ELibrary (Coverage varies) FULL TEXT. Offers more than 1,500 full-text sources, including magazine articles, newspapers, books, images, multimedia clips, radio and television transcripts, photographs, and maps. Available via the Nebraska Library Commission.

Electronic Collections Online (ECO) (1995 - current) INDEX A collection of articles from journals of various subjects.  Cross-journal searching and browsing are available for several journals. Users can view bibliographic information for all journals and view full text articles from journals to which their institution subscribes.  Accessed via FirstSearch.

ERIC (1966 - current) INDEX/ABSTRACTS. Contains annotated references to nonjournal material issued in the monthly Resources in Education (RIE) and to journal articles issued in the monthly Current Index to Journals in Education (CIJE). Accessed via FirstSearch.

Government Printing Office Database (GPO Access)
(1976 - current)
FULLTEXT. Covers all types of U.S. government documents, including Congressional reports, hearings, debates, and records; judiciary materials; and documents issued by executie departments, etc. Free online use of many Federal databases, including the Federal Register, the Code of Federal Regulations, GAO reports,the United States Code, Regulations, the Congressional Record and Congressional Bills. Health Source: Consumer Edition - This resource provides access to nearly 300 full text, consumer health periodicals, including American Fitness, Better Nutrition, Harvard Health Letter, HealthFacts, Men's Health, Muscle & Fitness, Prevention, Vegetarian Times, and many others. In addition to full text, indexing and abstracts are provided for more than 300 periodicals.

Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition - Provides full text access to 550 health journals, with emphasis on nursing and the allied health fields. Also, abstracts and indexing for 850 journals are included.

Kiplinger Special Service (Current) FULLTEXT. Contains current news headlines and summary daily reports. Digital back issues of Kiplinger letter; Kiplinger's Washington letter, Kiplinger's Tax Letter, Kiplinger's Agriculture Lette, Kiplinger's California Letter, and Kiplinger's Personal Finance Adviser are available. MEDLINE (1965 - current) INDEX/ABSTRACTS. Indexes more than 9,580 medical and health-related journals published all over the world. It is produced by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and is updated monthly. Articles indexed tend to be highly specialized, as the periodicals are aimed primarily at doctors and researchers. NLC's Electronic Library (Coverage varies). CITATIONS/FULL TEXT. A collection of web resources compiled and maintained by the Nebraska Library Commission. Topics vary, covering the humanities, social sciences, general sciences, education, among others.

netLibrary (Current) CATALOG. A collection of over 23,000 books in electronic format, available for check-out via netLibrary. You may search titles on our online catalog, Unicorn. These electronic books may be checked out. You must create a personal account on netLibrary's site to check out books, but registration is free. Available courtesy of the Nebraska Library Commission.

North American Indian Thought and Culture - Contains  over 119,000 pages of text  and images. Included are  biographies, auto-biographies,  personal narratives, speeches,  diaries, letters, and oral histories.  When complete North  American Indian Thought and Culture will include  123,000 pages of text and images.

North American Immigrant Letters, Diaries and Oral Histories - Includes 2,162 authors and approximately 100,000 pages of information, providing a unique view of what it meant to immigrate to America and Canada between 1800 and 1950. Composed of contemporaneous letters and diaries, oral histories, interviews, and other personal narratives. Includes selected audio files.

North American Women's Letters and Diaries: Colonial to 1950 - Includes the immediate experiences of 1,325 women and 150,000 pages of diaries and letters.


Oral History Online - This release of Oral History Online provides in-depth indexing to more than 2,700 collections of Oral History in English from around the world. The collection also provides keyword searching of almost 281,000 pages of full-text by close to 10,000 individuals from all walks of life. It also contains pointers to over 4,100 audio and video files and almost 19,000 bibliographic records.

PAIS International (1972 - current). INDEX. Contains references to more than 553,000 journal articles, books, government documents, statistical directories, grey literature, research reports, and more.

PapersFirst (1993 - current ) INDEX. Indexes papers included in every congress, conference, exposition, workshop, symposium, and meeting received at The British Library. This resource is updated 24 times a year. Accessed via FirstSearch.

ProceedingsFirst (1993- ) INDEX/FULL TEXT. Citations and some full text content of every congress, conference, exposition, workshop, symposium, and meeting received at The British Library. This resource is updated 24 times a year. Accessed via FirstSearch.

PsycARTICLES Definitive source for full text articles on current issues in psychology. Search 39,000 articles from 52 scholarly, professional journals.

PsycINFO (1887 - current) INDEX/ABSTRACTS. From psychology journals and books. Contains nearly two million citations and summaries of journal articles, book chapters, books, and dissertations, all in the field of psychology. Journal coverage includes international material selected from nearly 2,000 periodicals in over 35 languages. More than 60,000 records are added each year. PsycINFO also includes information about the psychological aspects of related disciplines such as medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, physiology, linguistics, anthropology, business, and law.

PubMed - (1950's - current) "A service of the National Library of Medicine, PubMed includes over 15 million citations for biomedical articles... These citations are from MEDLINE and additional life science journals. PubMed includes links to many sites providing full text articles and other related resources," from the NIH website.

Science Direct - TRIAL
The library now has a 30-day trial subscription to the full-text database ScienceDirect from Elsevier. The database provides indexing and full-text access to more than 2,000 journal;s, reference books,  book series, and handbooks.  Our trial subscription limits
full-text availability to Elsevier publications--journals known both for their high quality and their incomparable pricing. Please make use of the access and send comments to
library@nebrwesleyan.edu.

Serials Solutions - HOLDINGS LIST. Serials Solutions is a list of magazines, journals, newspapers, etc., available through Cochrane Woods Library. Use this resource to identify and link to articles available in full-text in the databases to which the library subscribes. In the near future, you will also be able to discover the magazines, journals, newspapers, etc., to which the library subscribes in print.

WestLaw Campus Research - A comprehensive collection of news, business and law-related information. It provides current and archival news sources; business, trade and professional journals; comprehensive primary and analytical law-related sources. It is powered by Westlaw, the leading online legal and news service. Included are: United States Code Annotated (USCA), all federal and state cases including supreme court cases, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Federal Register and European Union Law.

Wilson Biographies Plus (1998 - current) FULL TEXT. Contains more than 111,000 biographies and obituaries as well as more than 32,000 photographs of the subjects. Many of the biographies are enhanced with full text, abstracts, and citations from H.W. Wilson databases. It contains full text articles from more than 100 volumes of biographical reference books published by H.W. Wilson, history, and over 65,000 profiles licensed from a number of respected reference publishers.

Wilson OmniFile Full Text Select (1994 - current) FULL TEXT. A multidisciplinary database that provides 100% full text articles, with their accompanying indexing and abstracts, from the following Wilson databases: Art Full Text, Applied Science and Technology Full Text, Biological and Agricultural Index, Education Full Text, General Science Full Text, Humanities Full Text, Index to Legal Periodicals & Books, Library Literature and Information Science Full Text, Readers' Guide Full Text, Social Sciences Full Text, and Wilson Business Full Text.

Women and Social Movements in the United States 1600 through 2000 - At this time, this resource includes the full text of more than 900 reports and publications issued by commissions in 47 states and the District of Columbia. When complete this collection will contain 75,000 pages of publications from commissions in all fifty states and the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Virgin Islands. The publications include reports, pamphlets, posters, and ephemeral materials.

World Almanac (Current) FULL TEXT. Includes the contents of: several almanacs, such as The World Almanac and Book of Facts, The World Almanac of the U.S.A., The World Almanac of U.S. Politics and The World Almanac for Kids. This resource is updated annually. Accessed via FirstSearch.

WorldCat (1000BC - current) CATALOG. World's largest catalog of materials with over 52 million records in over 400 languages. Users can see library holdings for each item in the database. This database was developed and is maintained through the cataloging efforts of OCLC member libraries. It is a useful resource for interlibrary loan. Includes books, videos, journal titles (but not citations to articles), microfiche, computer programs, music CDs, etc. WorldCat is updated daily. Accessed via FirstSearch.
