nwu named a top military-friendly school

LINCOLN, Neb. —Nebraska Wesleyan University has been named a top military-friendly school by G.I. Jobs Magazine and will be listed in the magazine's upcoming Guide to Military Friendly Schools.

The honor ranks Nebraska Wesleyan among the top 15 percent of the more than 7,000 state universities, private colleges and trade schools that were polled across the nation.

Nebraska Wesleyan's military-friendly practices include:
*NWU is an approved institution for federal education benefits from the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs. All majors and programs are approved meaning students receiving VA educational benefits can enroll in any NWU programs;

*Yellow Ribbon Program — NWU will fund tuition expenses up to 50 percent of what Veteran's Affairs doesn't cover in accordance with the Post 9/11 GI Bill;

*A leave policy in the event a student is called to active military duty and needs to miss one or more semesters;

*Computer account remains open and registration is kept for students who must leave NWU due to military service;

*NWU grants credit for standardized tests such as CLEP and DANTES, institutional credit-by-exam and lifelong portfolio options offered; use ACE guide and Guide to Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Forces for determining credit for formal instruction accomplished in military programs.
