lincoln attorney to address nwu graduates

LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Wesleyan University Board of Governor's Chair Larry Ruth will give the commencement address at Nebraska Wesleyan University’s 119th commencement ceremony to be held Saturday, May 17.

Ruth graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1967 and then attended American University in Washington, D.C. on an honors program dealing with governmental affairs. In 1970, he received his Juris Doctor degree from George Washington University National Law Center.

Ruth was admitted to practice law in Nebraska in 1970 and then entered the U.S. Navy. Following his time with the Navy, he returned to Lincoln to practice law where he represented clients before the legislature and administrative agencies as a member of a major Lincoln law firm. In 1995, Ruth and William J. Mueller formed Ruth & Mueller Law Firm.

He is the recipient of the Medal of Honor/Distinguished Alumnus Award of Nebraska Wesleyan University. He is an adjunct professor of political science, teaching political parties and interest groups and state and local government courses.

Approximately 480 students will receive their bachelor’s and master’s degrees during commencement exercises, which begin at 6:30 p.m. on Taylor Commons, located on the Nebraska Wesleyan University campus. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will move to Snyder Arena, located in the Weary Health and Fitness Center.
