"last comic standing" comedian ralphie may schedules show at wesleyan
LINCOLN, Neb. —Ralphie May, a veteran comedian whose popularity boomed after his success on the first season of NBC’s hit reality series “Last Comic Standing,” will headline Nebraska Wesleyan University’s annual Big Event on Wednesday, March 12.
May’s special brand of comedy combines the familiar elements of hip-hop and topical comedy with a dash of southern down-home flavor. He has worked as an actor, writer, and producer on ESPN’s "Mohr Sports" starring Jay Mohr and has had several appearances on CBS’s "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn", "Jimmy Kimmel Live", "The Man Show", and MTV’s "Bash". In an appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," he received a standing ovation, the first comedian in 10 years to receive this honor.
May began his career at age 17 when he entered a talent show to which the winner would get to open for Sam Kinison. May won the contest and after the show, Kinison turned to May and said, “that was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.”
His Lincoln show will begin at 8 p.m. in O’Donnell Auditorium, located at 50th Street and Huntington Ave. General admission tickets are available beginning Monday, March 3 for $15 and can be reserved by calling 402.465.2412.
O’Donnell Auditorium will open approximately 30 minutes prior to the event. This event is sponsored by the Wesleyan Entertainment Board.
