former football star, coach to share message of responsibility at nwu lecture

LINCOLN, Neb. — A former football standout, coach, and recovering alcoholic will deliver an entertaining message about personal accountability and responsible decision-making during a special Nebraska Wesleyan University presentation on Monday, March 10.

Over the past 18 years, Mike Green has presented on more than 2,000 campuses nationwide in his effort to make drug and alcohol awareness and education an integral part of every student’s life. He is a recognized leader in the field and in 1987 was chosen to give expert testimony before the United States House of Representatives Select Committee on Narcotics Abuse Control.

Green has been a participant and coach on both the high school and college levels. As a defensive lineman, he received All Pennsylvania Conference and All State Honors and a tryout with the Philadelphia Eagles. His firsthand experiences as a recovering alcoholic give him the credibility to honestly relate the dangers drugs and alcohol pose for many students.

His talk will begin at 8 p.m. in O’Donnell Auditorium, located at 50th Street and Huntington Ave. It is free and open to the public.

The program is sponsored by Double Eagle Beverage, LLC; NWU Alcohol Coalition Committee, Nebraska Wesleyan University Athletics Department, Student Life Department, Bacchus/Gamma, the Interfraternity and Panhellenic councils, and Order of Omega Greek Honorary.
