radiation expert to discuss risks at wesleyan lecture
LINCOLN, Neb. —A consultant for radiation emergencies around the world will speak at an upcoming Nebraska Wesleyan University lecture titled, “Why No One Believes Us: Cognitive Neuroscience and Radiation Risk.”
Dr. Dick Toohey is the Director of Dose Reconstruction Programs at Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU). Considered to be in the top 100 experts in the field of radiation protection, Toohey has served on the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurement, whose mission is to help disseminate information and research data about radiation exposure and protection guidelines in the public interest.
Toohey will speak on Thursday, February 21 at 1 p.m. in Olin B Lecture Hall, located within the Olin Hall of Science, 51st Street and St. Paul Ave. in Lincoln. Toohey is the 2008 Nebraska Wesleyan University Fetzer Science lecturer. The presentation is free and open to the public.
