wesleyan crowns homecoming royalty

LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Wesleyan University crowned Jerilyn Barta of Wilber and Aaron Persinger of Kearney as its 2007 homecoming queen and king. The college seniors were honored during halftime of the football game held during the University’s annual homecoming and alumni weekend, October 5-7.

Barta is the daughter of John Barta of Western and Dennis and Jodie Haxton of Wilber. Barta is majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry. Following graduation in May, she will work at Bryan LGH Hospital in Lincoln and later attend medical school. Barta is the president of Cardinal Key all academic honorary and a member of Beta Beta Beta biology honorary and Order of Omega Greek honorary. She is the secretary/treasure of the senior class and is the recruitment chair for her sorority.

Persinger is the son of Lonnie and Kim Persinger. He is a biochemistry and molecular biology major with a minor in psychology. His recent research at the University of Nebraska Medical Center on HIV and vaccines will soon be published in the Journal of Virology. He will attend medical school at UNMC next year. Persinger is a member of Wesleyan’s baseball team and is the vice president of his fraternity. He is a member of Tri-Beta biology honorary, Order of Omega Greek honorary, Society of Scholars, and is a New Student Orientation Leader.

Jared Kenney — son of Paul and Angie Kenney; business administration major; minor in public relations with an emphasis in agribusiness.

Amanda Van Pelt — daughter of Dave and Eileen Van Pelt; sport management major.

Falls City
Laura Young — daughter of Dave and Kathy Young; communication and music major.

Fremont
Nathan Anderson — son of Milo and Cheri Anderson; biochemistry and molecular biology major.

Hampton
Timothy Klipp — son of LeRoy Klipp and Larry and Teresa Friesen; music education major.

Seward
Holly Brydl-Andrews — daughter of Lori Anderson and Kim Andrews; exercise science major, Spanish minor.

West Point
Caitlin Klitz — daughter of Lynn and Kim Klitz; communication and Spanish double major; minor in American minority studies.

Wilber
Justin Florian — son of Alan and Kim Florian; communication and sport management major.
