Nebraska Wesleyan Kicks off diaper drive
LINCOLN, Neb. —Bottom line: babies go through lots of diapers. And that can be tough on a budget, especially for young and low-income families.
Beginning Monday, October 8, Nebraska Wesleyan University’s Pregnancy/Childcare Advocacy Team along with the Interfraternity and Panhellenic councils will hold a diaper and baby wipe donation drive. The drive will benefit student mothers and mothers-to-be at Nebraska Wesleyan as well as the Good Neighbor Community Center, which provides diapers to Lincoln’s low-income families.
All diaper sizes are needed, especially Luvs brand sizes 3, 4, and 5, and pull-up diapers for toddlers.
This year, the Good Neighbor Community Center distributed 12,121 diapers to 1,010 babies in Lincoln. The center is limited to distributing only a dozen diapers a month to families in need due to a diaper shortage and their high demand.
Diaper and baby wipe donations can be dropped off at three locations on the Nebraska Wesleyan University campus: Great Hall in the Smith-Curtis Administration Building, first floor of Old Main, or the Student Health and Wellness Center, located in Pioneer Hall. Nebraska Wesleyan University is located in northeast Lincoln at 50th Street and St. Paul Ave. Cash donations can be sent to: NWU Diaper Drive, 5000 St. Paul Ave., Lincoln, Neb. 68504. The drive will continue through October 18.
