nebraska wesleyan joins lux center for the art of fine craft conference and exhibition

LINCOLN, Neb. —Lux Center for the Arts will host the fifth biennial Art of Fine Craft Conference, October 4 and 5. Events to be held at Lux Center for the Arts and Nebraska Wesleyan University include demonstrations, lectures and exhibitions from professional artists and a regional juried exhibition.
In addition to exhibitions of their respective work, conference presenters Hiroki Morinoue, Kathryn Finnerty and Jeanne Quinn will each give demonstrations and slide lectures. They will also act as jurors for the Regional Juried Exhibition.

The Regional Juried Exhibition opens Thursday, October 4 at Elder Gallery on the Nebraska Wesleyan campus, 50th Street and Huntington Ave. The exhibit will continue through November 2.

“This exhibition is meant to showcase all fine craft and printmaking processes,” says Carlos Guerrero, preparator of Elder Gallery. “We are excited to have such outstanding examples of work from some of the finest artists in the region”

Conference Presenter Exhibitions open Friday, October 5. There will be an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lux Center, 48th Street and Baldwin Ave. The exhibition runs through October 27. All gallery exhibitions are free and open to the public.

The Art of Fine Craft Conference is funded in part by the Nebraska Humanities Council.

Elder Gallery is located in the Rogers Center for Fine Arts, 50th Street and Huntington Ave. It is free and open to the public. Hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m. The gallery is closed on Mondays and on University holidays.

Lux Center for the Arts is free and open to the public. Hours are Tuesday-Friday, 11a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. First Friday of each month 11-7 p.m. Private parking is available on the west side of the building located in historic University Place at 2601 N. 48th Street.
