nwu music professor sings her way to washington, dc for "national Anthem Project"

LINCOLN, Neb. —A Nebraska Wesleyan University music professor is in Washington, D.C. this week representing Nebraska as the state’s musical “All Star.”

In August, Dawn Pawlewski Krogh competed in the National Anthem Project, a vocal competition held in the entire continental United States and Alaska. Krogh won Nebraska’s competition after performing “The Star Spangled Banner.”

Winners received a $1,000 scholarship and a spot to perform at the National Anthem Project’s “Grand Finale,” which will be held June 14 at the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. First Lady Laura Bush is the honorary chairperson of the event. Several National Anthem Project activities have been planned throughout the week.

Krogh donated her $1,000 scholarship to Wesleyan’s opera program. Krogh was the stage director for Wesleyan’s operatic production of “A Streetcar Named Desire,” which was debuted on the collegiate level by Nebraska Wesleyan last spring.
