Wesleyan plans halloween performance of "the
sorcerer's apprentice"
LINCOLN, Neb. —Just in time for Halloween,
Nebraska Wesleyan University’s theatre students will direct
and present two shows of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
The show, which is being directed by NWU student
Pat Holgerson of Santa Fe, New Mexico, is about a young magician
named Klaus — the Sorcerer’s apprentice — who
wants to learn magic to help him with his chores. The Sorcerer’s
cat helps Klaus find that he can do anything we wants if he puts
his mind to it. But the Sorcerer soon learns that Klaus is sneaking
around and playing with magic and punishes Klaus. Klaus sees how
evil the Sorcerer has become and continues to learn the Sorcerer’s
magic behind his back in order to defeat him so he does not harm
the villagers. In the end, good triumphs over evil and Klaus defeats
the Sorcerer and helps him remember that he can still do good magic
and offers to help him.
The performance will be held Thursday, October
30 at 7:30 p.m. and on Friday, October 31 at 5 p.m. Both performances
will be held in the Enid Miller Theatre, located in the Elder Memorial
Speech and Theatre Center at 51st and Huntington Avenue. Children
attending the Halloween performance are invited to go trick-or-treating
on the Wesleyan campus following the play.
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is free
and open to the public.
