WESLEYAN PREPARES FOR MUSICAL "CHILDREN
OF EDEN"
LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Wesleyan University
students are warming up their vocal chords for the season’s
first musical, Children of Eden.
Written by Stephen Schwartz and based on a book
by John Caird, the production is based on the biblical book of Genesis.
It is a heartfelt, often humorous examination of the generation
gap between parents and children. Adam, Eve, Noah and the Father
who created them deal with the headstrong, cataclysmic actions of
their respective children. The melodic, energetic score is a mix
of pop, folk, rock, reggae, gospel, and powerful choral moments
that deliver the inspiring message that the hardest part of love
is letting go.
The musical production kicks off Nebraska Wesleyan’s
homecoming and alumni weekend activities. Shows are scheduled for
October 3-5 and October 9-11 at 7:30 p.m. in McDonald Theatre. Performances
have also been scheduled for 2 p.m. on October 5th and 12th. Jack
Parkhurst, associate professor of theatre arts, is directing the
play.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $7.50 for students ages
12-18 and senior citizens, $5 for college students and youth under
12. Wesleyan’s box office is open from 2-5 p.m. Monday through
Friday and on weekends during performances from 2-5 p.m. The box
office phone number is 402.465.2384.
