LOCAL STUDENTS QUALIFY FOR
NATIONAL HISTORY DAY COMPETITION

Results Announced From State Competition

LINCOLN, Neb.— Nebraska Wesleyan University hosted nearly 300 elementary through high school students at the 23rd annual National History Day: Nebraska competition on Saturday, April 12.

National History Day: Nebraska, sponsored by Nebraska Wesleyan University, is a history competition for students in grades 6-12 and is associated with the National History Day program. Entries were judged on the quality of research and presentation, as well as their adaptation to the 2003 contest theme, "Rights & Responsibilities In History." The first and second place state winners in each category are now eligible to advance to the national contest to be held June 15-19 at the University of Maryland-College Park near Washington, D.C.

For more than twenty-five years the National History Day Program has promoted systemic educational reform related to the teaching and learning of history in America’s schools. It has become a leading model of performance-based learning and has proven an excellent way of furthering students’ knowledge of history.
