WESLEYAN PREPARES FOR TWO THEATRE PERFORMANCES
Lincoln, Neb.— Nebraska Wesleyan University
professor Jay Chipman first heard about the play "Five Women
Wearing The Same Dress" while attending a theatre convention
several years ago. He made a mental note to read the play.
But his memory wasn’t jogged again until colleague
and costume designer Donna Himmelberger told Chipman that she had
always wanted to costume that very play.
"Five Women Wearing The Same Dress" is
one of two theatre performances to kick off in April at Nebraska
Wesleyan. The play runs April 4-6 and April 10-12. "The Last
Night Of Ballyhoo" will be performed April 11-13 and April
24-26.
Chipman will direct "Five Women Wearing The
Same Dress," which is set in the early 1990s in character Meredith’s
bedroom in a large turn-of-the-century mansion in Knoxville, Tenn.
The play was written by Alan Ball who is known for his writing for
the film "American Beauty" and HBO series "Six Feet
Under."
"I thought it might be fun for audiences to
see one of his earlier works," Chipman said.

important social event of the year — Ballyhoo. Beneath the
social swirl, however, lurks more troubling issues: a new employee
from New York, a looming war, and the tension of a Jewish family
living in a Christian world. Jack Parkhurst will direct the play.
