WESLEYAN WINS GRANT FOR THEATER ENHANCEMENTS
Lincoln, Neb.— has received a $50,000 grant
from the Armstrong McDonald Foundation.
The grant will be used for digital lighting equipment
in McDonald Theatre. Jay Chipman, assistant professor of communication
and theatre arts said the new lighting will help improve the production
of many contemporary plays.
The enhancement to the lighting is a critical element
in Nebraska Wesleyan’s three-phase plan to support teaching
and learning through the effective and efficient use of the best
technological resources available. Beginning in the 1990s and continuing
through 2002, developing teaching and learning resources through
technology has been a University priority. Nebraska Wesleyan’s
success in its technology endeavors has resulted in the school’s
inclusion in the top 100 of Yahoo’s Most Wired Campuses of
2001.
The Armstrong McDonald Foundation has been an important
contributor to Wesleyan’s technology initiatives, providing
$50,000 toward the creation of the Microcomputer Learning Resources
Center in 1989, $50,000 for a campus networking project in 1997
and $161,000 for a modern language laboratory in 2000.
