PRESIDENT OF NEBRASKA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY
JOINS CIC BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Lincoln, Neb.— Dr. , president of , has been
elected to the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) Board of Directors.
President Watson will serve a three-year term from January 2003
to January 2006.
The elections were held during a meeting of the
Board of Directors at CIC’s 2003 Presidents Institute in Naples,
Florida, on January 4th.
Among the responsibilities of the CIC Directors
are providing fiduciary oversight for the allocation of CIC’s
assets and approving operating budgets; participating in the development
and approval of long-term plans; and advising on the direction of
the association’s programs and services.
"The Council is pleased to have as a Board
member," said CIC President Richard Ekman. "CIC is in
the midst of implementing many exciting new projects, and needs
a strong Board of Directors to oversee their planning and execution.
I am certain that Jeanie will serve the Council admirably, and look
forward to working with her."
The Council of Independent Colleges is an association
of approximately 500 independent colleges and universities that
work together to strengthen college and university leadership, sustain
high-quality education, and enhance private higher education’s
contributions to society. To fulfill this mission, CIC provides
its members with skills, tools, and knowledge that address aspects
of leadership, financial management and performance, academic quality,
and institutional visibility.
