Nebraska Wesleyan University Forensics Competes at Districts

Hastings, Neb. - The Nebraska Wesleyan University forensics squad qualified three more events for national competition at the American Forensics Association (AFA) District IV National Qualifier held March 8-9, 2002 at Hastings College.

Students placing in the top 10% of their events earn automatic qualification for the AFA National Individual Events Tournament, to be held in April at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. The Nebraska Wesleyan squad will send a total of seven students in twelve events to the national tournament.

David Whitt, Director of Forensics at Nebraska Wesleyan University, was a finalist for the 2001-02 Larry Schnoor Distinguished Service Award. The award recognizes an individual within the District who has made a significant contribution to the forensics community.

Students qualifying for the national tournament are as follows:

Jennifer Myers (Geneva, Neb.) – Informative Speaking

Chris Foster (Papillion, Neb.) – Program of Oral Interpretation

Danielle Nielsen (Minden, Neb.) - Impromptu Speaking
