Apply

People credentialed to teach U.S. history or social studies in Nebraska are provisionally admitted to the Master of Arts in Historical Studies program on the recommendation of their school district or principal. Upon completion of the 12-hour certificate program (including History 501, 502, 521 and 550) students apply for full admission into the degree program.

To apply to the Master of Arts in Historical Studies program, complete and submit the following:

  1. Master of Arts in Historical Studies Admission Application (PDF)
  2. Official transcripts from all previously attended institutions (have transcripts sent directly to address below; transcrips issued to students are not accepted)
  3. Two letters of support
  4. $50 application fee (checks may be made out to Nebraska Wesleyan University)
  5. Letter stating personal goals in attending the program

Transfer of Credit Policy

A maximum of nine semester hours of graduate credit with a grade of "B-" or better may be transferred from other institutions with approval. The transferring institution must be regionally accredited. A student must be currently enrolled at NWU for transfer work to be posted to the academic record.
