An NWU Donor Fact

Scholarship > Stewardship

With a gift of $25,000 or more, you may wish to endow a scholarship in your name or in honor of a family member or friend. The Development office at Nebraska Wesleyan is here to help you make this charitable goal possible.

Perhaps you are interested in contributing to our general scholarship fund or to a specific scholarship that has already been endowed at Nebraska Wesleyan. Gifts of this type may be of any size and are greatly appreciated. We are a community filled with bright and talented students. Many of these students would have been unable to attend Nebraska Wesleyan without the generous support of donors to our scholarship fund. All gifts to our endowed scholarship fund are added to Nebraska Wesleyan's Endowment. The finance committee of our Board of Governors works with local and national banks in Lincoln to manage the investments in this fund.

Scholarship funds are administered by the Director of Financial Aid, Tom Ochsner, tjo@nebrwesleyan.edu. The Donor Relations/Research Manager, Jackie Rezac, jro@nebrwesleyan.edu, will notify both you and the scholarship recipient of the selection and will facilitate opportunities for communication and interaction between you.

In the fall of each year, Nebraska Wesleyan will notify the student of his or her award. Wesleyan will also provide the donor with an annual statement of fund activity and the current balance.

Endowment Growth
Any earnings and/or appreciation in excess of the amount “drawn” will be added back to the corpus of the grant funds and will become the basis for calculating the amount drawn in future years. That means that if the draw is less than the actual earnings, the fund will grow over time.
