An NWU Donor Fact

Scholarship

At Nebraska Wesleyan University, we believe our most important investment is in our students. We believe that outstanding students should be rewarded for their efforts. Most importantly, we believe that financial limitations should not be a barrier to qualified students desiring to attend this institution.

In spite of the financial and educational value of a Wesleyan education, this opportunity is beyond the means of many students for one basic reason: cost. With tuition, room and board totaling over $20,000 in 2006-2007, many students rule a Wesleyan education out on this factor alone. Of those who do enroll, roughly 90% will need assistance to finance their education.

Facts about Nebraska Wesleyan Scholarships:

  • Wesleyan awards over $8.75 million in scholarships each year.
  • Scholarships represent almost 30% of Wesleyan's total budget expenditures.
  • 86% of Wesleyan students receive academic scholarships.
  • 70% of Wesleyan students receive need-based financial aid.
  • Nebraska private colleges receive .7% of Nebraska's state and local tax support for higher education, yet graduate more than 1/3 of the total bachelors degrees in the state.
