An NWU Donor Fact

The Heritage Society

The Heritage Society, established by the Board of Governors on September 19, 1980, honors individuals who have made deferred gifts to Nebraska Wesleyan University. Membership in The Heritage Society is open to individuals who make the following types of gifts:

  • Will bequest
  • Living trust
  • Charitable gift annuity
  • Deferred charitable gift annuity
  • Charitable remainder trust
  • IRA, retirement plan assets
  • Personal residence or farm with retained life estate
  • Life insurance

Members of The Heritage Society are recognized through annual publication of their names in the President’s Annual Report. Members also receive an attractive lapel pin.

Deferred gifts are a vital part of the financial support necessary for Nebraska Wesleyan University to continue to be nationally recognized as a premiere educational institution and to maintain its excellence. Scholarship assistance for deserving students, funding for campus-wide programming and faculty development, and departmental projects and capital improvements, are but a few of the ways in which generous deferred gifts from alumni and friends are used to carry forth the strong foundation of Nebraska Wesleyan.

If you are interested in membership in The Heritage Society, email Brenda McCrady, Planned Giving Programs, or call 402.465.2129.

The formal designation for wills, trusts, life income arrangements, and life insurance policies is: Nebraska Wesleyan University, a nonprofit corporation.
