An NWU Donor Fact

Annual Fund > Frequently Asked Questions

Why has Nebraska Wesleyan begun to accept gifts online?
Nebraska Wesleyan accepts online gifts for your convenience. We know that not everyone has time for phone-a-thon calls and filling out paper forms that come in the mail. The online option allows you to make a gift when it is convenient for you.

What is the Annual Fund?
The Annual Fund comprises regular gifts from alumni, parents, businesses, faculty, staff, and friends of the University. These gifts typically are renewed or updated on an annual basis, hence the name "Annual Fund." Gifts to the Annual Fund support academic and need-based student scholarships. Finally, monies received through the Annual Fund are expended in the same academic year in which they are raised.

What will my gift support today?
Your gift will positively impact the life of a Nebraska Wesleyan student today. Unless you indicate otherwise, your gift to the Annual Fund will be used in support of scholarships. You may also specifically direct your gift to academic programs or faculty development.

Do I have to pay my entire donation amount today, or can I do it over time throughout this next year?
You may make payments to your annual fund gift anytime during the annual fundraising year (June 1, 2006 — May 31, 2007). You can even ask us to send you reminders any month during the fundraising year.

When I submit a credit card donation, will it be billed to my account that same day?
More than likely your credit card will be billed within one to two weeks from the date you submit an online donation.

How does the University recognize individuals who make gifts to the Annual Fund?
Each year your gift is listed as part of a specific donor club level in our Annual Report, which mails to all our alumni, friends, and contributors in late December. We also ask that all individuals that graciously give to our annual fundraising campaign celebrate with us at Wesleyan Weekend, which is the annual reunion, homecoming, and parents' celebration.

Is it safe to give my gift online?
Our site is completely safe for secure transfers of personal information, such as credit card and address information. Nebraska Wesleyan University has taken all steps necessary to ensure this safety.

What if I want to give an additional gift that isn't considered an Annual Fund gift?
Please contact Linda Birkes-Lance at lbirkesl@nebrwesleyan.edu or 1.800.541.3818 ext. 2127. Wesleyan has many other exciting projects that could use your additional support.

How do I donate via check online?
Fill out the form under the "Donate" section of the site. Under the "Payment Type" button select "check." After you have submitted the online form, print a copy of what you have submitted and mail the printout, along with your check, to Linda Birkes-Lance, University Advancement, Nebraska Wesleyan University, 5000 Saint Paul Avenue, Lincoln, NE 68504.

What is a "matching gift"?
Many employers encourage their employees to donate to worthwhile charities by offering to match any charitable gift. Check with your employer to see this option is available to you.

Can I make a gift online if it is part of a matching gift program?
Yes, just fill out the form under the "Donate" section of the site, making sure to select "yes" in the box under "Matching Gift Information." After you have submitted the online form, print a copy of what you have submitted and also include your company's matching gift form along with your gift to Linda Birkes-Lance, University Advancement, Nebraska Wesleyan University, 5000 Saint Paul Avenue, Lincoln, NE 68504.
