"The best thing about the Nebraska Wesleyan
Department of Physics is the faculty. They were always ready to
give me their time and help, and were very patient with my mistakes-
they never made me feel ashamed of my lack of experience. More
than that, they seemed to genuinely like me. I have spent 10 years
now at other colleges and I realize that the atmosphere of 'family'at
Nebraska Wesleyan is very rare indeed. "
-Dr. Karen Johnsgard ('86), postdoctoral student at Cornell
University (N.Y.)

Quotes from Recent Graduates
"The individual concern for studentswell-being
by Wesleyan faculty members is great! And they are extremely knowledgeable.
They are professors who are leading their field, busy helping
build multi-million dollar superconductor supercolliders, but
never too busy to listen to a student I never took a course at
Wesleyan where the professor didn't know my name. The Department
of Physics provided me with lots of options - ajob, graduate school
in physics andlor internship opportunities. I definitely would
not be where I am today had I gone to a large university. At a
school like Nebraska Wesleyan, it ~ easier to get involved in
activities."
-Bill Chvala ('92), research engineer for Pacific Northwest
National Laboratory, a U.S. Department of Energy Laboratory

"The class size and mir of faculty at Nebraska
Wesleyan was great. I can't imagine studying physics at a larger
school with several hundred students in a class. I'm also very
impressed by Wesleyan offering Workshop Physics at the introductory
level. In general, it can be hard to come into graduate school
from a liberal arts background, but Nebraska Wesleyan prepared
me very well The inclusive atmosphere in the department probably
did as much for me as the "technical" training. The interest shown
by professors in their students is also very impressive."
-Dr. Heidi Fenct ('84), assistant professor of physics at Concordia
College (Minn.)
