Peter Heckman has been teaching philosophy at Nebraska Wesleyan University since 1995. Prior to that he taught for some years at Santa Clara University in California. Dr. Heckman received a B.A. in English and Philosophy from Grinnell College in 1978 and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Northwestern University in 1988.
 
Dr. Heckman wrote his doctoral dissertation on the 19th century German philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche and has interests in 19th and 20th century European philosophy, aesthetics and feminist theory. He has published articles in The British Journal of Aesthetics, Philosophy and Rhetoric, Continental Philosophy View, International Studies in Philosophy, Journal of Business Ethics and Ethics. Dr. Heckman has served as the Chair of the Department of Religion and Philosophy and is currently overseeing the Liberal Arts Seminar program at Nebraska Wesleyan University.
