Lisa A. Wilkinson began teaching at Nebraska Wesleyan University in the fall of 2002. She received a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of South Florida in 2002, a Masters in Philosophy in 2000, a Masters in Liberal Arts in 1994, and a Bachelors in English in 1987. Prior to earning a doctorate in Philosophy, she taught Humanities and Honors courses and served as an Associate Editor for the journal Hypatia.
 
At Nebraska Wesleyan she has taught Introduction to Philosophy, Logic, Ethics, Existentialism, Philosophies of Race and Gender, Liberal Arts Seminars in classical Athenian culture, Ancient Philosophy, French Feminisms, Modern Philosophy and Feminist Theories. Annually, she teaches courses cross-listed with Women's Studies and Peace and Justice Studies.
She is an active member of the Society for Ancient Greek Philosophy, the International Association of Greek Philosophy and Culture, and the Society of Women in Philosophy.
 
Her primary research interests include Ancient Philosophy (ca. 750-300 BCE), Feminist Philosophies, Philosophies of Race and Gender, and Philosophies of Art. Her other interests include Continental Philosophies, specifically the tradition beginning with Hegel, Kierkegaard, and Nietzsche, and the current philosophies of postmodern, poststructuralist, and postcolonial thinkers.
 
She has published articles in international journals on Xenophanes, Parmenides, Sextus Empiricus, Plato, and the relationships between the ancient oral tradition and philosophy (University of Athens). Within the United States, she has co-authored an article in Plato's Forms (Rowman & Littlefield), and an entry in the Encyclopedia of American Philosophers.
