•The study of history involves learning both how to think about and understand the past, and how to investigate the past. In doing this students develop the ability to conduct research effectively, to read and interpret critically, to develop and support an argument coherently, and to write well. These skills have allowed our graduates to pursue careers in law, historic preservation, archives, education, business, among others. In addition, the study of history provides the beginning for learning over your lifetime.
•The History Department at Nebraska Wesleyan allows students to choose from courses in U.S., Latin American, European, and World history, and on topics such as disease, gender, witchcraft, and the environment.
•Recent students have combined their history major with majors in Political Science, Religion, English, Business, Biology, and Psychology.
•In addition the history major lends itself to study abroad, and recently majors have spent a semester or a year studying in Spain, Argentina, Peru, Finland, England, Japan, and Germany.
•Other history majors have used Nebraska Wesleyan’s Capitol Hill Internship Program (CHIP) to pursue internships in Washington D.C. for a semester.
•A history major provides a flexible format to take advantage of an array of educational opportunities. |
