The Flintlock

The Flintlock is a journal of student creative writing (both poetry and prose) and photography published each fall and spring; it is edited by a committee of students and a faculty sponsor. The faculty advisor is Professor Michael Dumanis.

The English Department grants the Boatright Prizes for Poetry and Prose to students for their work published in the Flintlock.

In 2005-2006, the Boatright Poetry prize went to Meghan Hershiser; Justin Runge won second prize.

Phil Pelster won the 2005-2006 Boatright Prose prize; second place in prose went to Kyle Karthauser.

Boatright prizes for art went to Kaj Jorgensen (1st place) and Chad Petska (second place).

The Boatright prizes are made possible through the generosity of Kevin Boatright, NWU English Department class of 1974.

For information on joining the Flintlock editorial committee, contact Professor Dumanis. For information about working on one of the other campus publications, contact the English Department Chair.
