Dr. Cognard received his B. A. from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1967, and his Ph.D. from Texas Christian University in 1971. He joined the faculty of NWU in 1971. Dr. Cognard taught Renaissance Literature, Shakespeare, and Modern Drama, and led the popular Shakespearean Studies in Britain summer trip (English 270). He retired in Spring 2008.
