Are you interested in a Pre-Health program?

Pre-Health labels, such as Pre-Med, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Physicians-Assistant, Pre-Dental, etc. are not majors offered through any Departments on Nebraska Wesleyan's campus or on any other university or college campus.  Labeling yourself as Pre-Health simply means you plan to fulfill all the course requirments necessary for admission to a particular pre-health program, to which you will presumably eventually apply (typically late in your junior year).  The prerequisites for each of these programs are dictated by the graduate school you wish to attend.  These prerequisites occasionally change without NWU faculty being informed, therefore the best way to determine undergraduate course requirements for your particular professional interests is to visit the professional school's website.  In addition many professional health schools require applicants to take an exam, such as the MCAT (Med school) or PDAT (Dental).  This typically occurs sometime in your junior or senior year.

Most pre-health requirements can be completed within two years, sometimes less, depending on your specific interests.  Note also that some programs do not require an undergraduate degree for admission--many pharmacy programs, for example, will accept students as early as after their sophomore year assuming they have completed the undergradaute coursework necessary for admission.

No matter what your interests we encourage you to consider your degree options and personal goals carefully,  bearing in mind that while you don't have an infinite amount of time to decide which degree (or degrees) you wish to pursue at Nebraska Wesleyan, you certainly don't need to have everything figured out your first semster (or even your first year).  You should however put some serious thought into your decision.  This is best accomplished through conversations with faculty and fellow students.
