Student Services > Commuter Student Services

As a commuter student at Nebraska Wesleyan University, you will make many of the same transitions to college that students who live on campus do. Living off campus presents a unique set of challenges as well. The following questions and answers will help you become aware of the services available to commuter students at NWU.

Where can I go when I am not in class?

  • Weary Center
  • Student Center lounge in lower level
  • Smith-Curtis and Great Hall lounges located in lower levels
  • lounges in academic buildings

Where can I study?

  • Cochrane-Woods Library
  • lounges
  • computer labs

Where can I store my stuff?

  • Lockers are available in the walkway between Olin Hall and Smith Curtis for free student use.

What if I have car trouble on campus?

Physical Plant/Securitis staff will assist you if you have a vehicle emergency (flat tire or need a jump start, for example).

Where do I park?

  • Students park free in designated areas on the Nebraska Wesleyan University campus.

Where can I eat?

  • Hot meals or grab and go meals are available in the dining hall located in the Student Center. Stop in the Sodexo Office to purchase munch money for discount meals.
  • Vending machines are located in the walkway between Olin Hall and Smith-Curtis and other buildings throughout campus.
  • The Coffee House located in the lower level of the Student Center features Starbucks® Coffee and gourmet sandwiches and salads.

How can I meet other students on campus?

  • Sign up for an intramural team. If you do not have a team then you can sign up as a “"free agent".” Fill out the form (can be picked up at the Intramural Sports bulletin board across from the Weary Center front desk) and place it in the team entry folder. The intramural staff will work to place you on a team.
  • Read the all-campus email each Monday to find out what is going on at NWU.
  • Stay updated with the “"What's Happening"”board in the Great Hall.
  • Consider an on-campus job.
  • Check out the Involvement Fair during the first week of the fall semester.

What other services are available?

  • Courtesy phones are available for student use at the entrance to all campus buildings.
  • Residence hall rooms may be rented on a per-night basis for occasional use (exam periods or inclement weather, for example). Contact Housing and Residence Life, 465.2162 or ext. 2161, for more information.
