| New Dean of Students Announced
Peter Armstrong begins July 1
Nebraska Wesleyan University has announced its new Dean of Students.
Peter Armstrong, the Associate Dean of Students and Director of Residential Life at Wartburg College, will become NWU’s Dean of Students, beginning July 1.
“We are looking forward to his calm, collaborative leadership style as we move forward in our creation of a seamless student learning experience at Nebraska Wesleyan,” said NWU Provost Judy Muyskens. “Pete is a strong advocate for the student and because of his years of working very closely with students, I predict that he will quickly establish a strong rapport with our students.”
Armstrong has served as Associate Dean of Students at Wartburg College since 1991. In that capacity he has managed and directed residential life and housing staff, supervised and coordinated the student conduct process, edited the Wartburg College student handbook, and worked closely with the dean of students and vice president for student life.
Prior to his experience at Wartburg College, he was the Associate Director of Residence Hall Services and Assistant to the Executive Director of Student Development at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He also has experience in residence life and housing at the University of Evansville and Marycrest College.
Armstrong will serve as the senior student life officer at NWU, providing leadership in the efforts to integrate Student Life and Academic Affairs. He will provide oversight for Athletics, judicial processes, Career & Counseling Center, Housing and Residence Life, Center for Student Involvement, Student Health Services and University Ministries. He will be a team member with the dean of CLAS, the dean of University College and the provost.
“I am very excited about the opportunities that await at Nebraska Wesleyan, and I am looking forward to meeting more of the students, faculty, and staff,” said Armstrong, who has already received several welcome notes from the NWU community. “I am thankful for having been asked to play a role in Nebraska Wesleyan University’s future.”
