Residential Community > FAQs

Can I have visitors?

Absolutely, you can have visitors, but they must follow the Residence Life visitation and guest policy. All guests must be accompanied by their host at all times. The host is responsible for the behavior of his or her guests. Guests must be registered and floor or community rules developed by residents may restrict visitors at certain times.

Where do I eat?

Sodexho Educational Dining Services offers a continuous dining meal plan. The idea behind continuous dining is convenience for you. You may enter the dining hall, located in the Student Center, when your schedule allows, Monday through Friday and during brunch and dinner on the weekends.

What should I bring with me?

Turning your room into your new home is an essential part of the college experience. Just don't forget that you will be sharing that room with your roommate, so don't bring everything you own. Contact your roommate when you receive your room assignment and decide together how you want your room to look.

What kinds of security measures are available at the University?

Your safety is important to us. Nebraska Wesleyan continually updates the security systems throughout the campus, and recently installed better and brighter lighting across the campus and in parking areas. Each residence hall has electronically locked outside doors to which only residents of that hall hold an access fob, and phones are located outside of each hall to allow visitors to call the person they are visiting. Visitors must be escorted throughout the residence halls at all times. Also, each room door has a peephole and a changeable lock core, so if you lose a key, the core can be removed and a new key cut immediately. Also, peer assistants and residence life coordinators are on duty each night.

Will my room have a computer connection?

Each residence hall room is wired to the campus network and the Internet. You will receive information on the minimum configuration requirements with your housing information. If you have any questions about the minimum requirements, please contact Computer Services and Information Technology.

Does my room have cable access?

You room includes a cable outlet so that if you choose, you can purchase a variety of packages the first week of classes directly from our local cable provider. For full service, you'll need a cable-ready TV.

What about phone service?

Your room rate includes local phone service and a phone. You will receive a monthly bill for your long distance service. Because Wesleyan has an independent phone system, you cannot receive collect calls. You may use calling cards, but you can't use your room phone for billing a calling card.

Do I have to buy a meal plan?

If you are living on campus, yes. Please refer to your room and board contract for more details. All students living in Johnson, Pioneer, Centennial, or Plainsman must sign up for continuous dining. Students living in the Suite-Style Residence Halls may choose between the continuous dining or a block-dining plan. Students living in the Townhouse Village can choose the continuous dining plan, block-dining plan, or no meal plan at all.
