American Chemical Society

The American Chemical Society (ACS) gives students the opportunity to broaden their interests in the chemical field through interactions with the chemistry faculty and other related majors.  Becoming Accounting Professionals

The goal of Becoming Accounting Professionals is to educate interested students about issues in accounting. Meetings will address topics such as the CPA exam, certification and licensing requirements, and graduate school. Meetings will also be an opportunity to host outside speakers with accounting backgrounds.

 Collegiate Business Association (CBA)

The Collegiate Business Association (CBA) exists to provide the opportunity for Nebraska Wesleyan students to learn about the experiences and careers of men and women from the local business community. The interaction with these men and women creates great networking opportunities. CBA meets once a month and hosts a variety of guest speakers sharing on topics ranging from accounting and taxes to human resources. CBA also helps the business department sponsor a career week in which business majors/minors are given the chance to job shadow in different companies in Lincoln. CBA is recommended for all business majors, but all Wesleyan students are invited to join.

Wesleyan Theatre Company

Wesleyan Theatre Company is the theatre honorary group comprised of well-rounded and involved students in all elements of theatre. Plainsman Players is open to all students on campus, interested in working on major productions or laboratory theatre productions. It is for students who enjoy acting, constructing costumes, building scenery, working in the box office, designing/applying make-up, running lights, providing sound effects, gathering properties, ushering, handling public relations and advertisement for NWU productions and for those who are devoted to keeping the art of theatre alive on this campus.

Society of Physics Students

The Society of Physics Students (SPS) is a professional association explicitly designed for students. The only requirement for membership is that the student be interested in physics. SPS helps student members transform themselves into contributing members of the professional community by giving them skills including effective communication and personal interactions, leadership experience, establishing a personal network of contacts, presenting scholarly work in professional meetings and journals, and outreach services to the campus and local communities.

Wesleyan Communication Association (WCA)

The Wesleyan Communication Association (WCA) is an organization in which mainly communication and business students participate, however, students of all disciplines are encouraged to join and attend several meetings through out the year to have the opportunity to listen to and to network with several communication and business professionals. They also participate in activities sponsored by the Communication and Theatre Department. WCA is a great way for students to get to know each other as well as their options for internships and post-graduate plans.

SAS is the governing body of the students. SAS is made up of students representing their constituents in every department and residential facility. It also includes faculty and administrative representatives. SAS is responsible for allocating student activity fees to all organizations at NWU as well as to serve as the voice of the student body to faculty and administration.

University Judiciary

The University Judiciary exists to hear, make a determination, and if warranted impose sanctions for possible infractions of the Nebraska Wesleyan University Code of Student Conduct. Members are appointed or elected in accordance with procedures established by the Nebraska Wesleyan University faculty constitution and the SAS by Laws with approval of the NWU administration.

Board of Governors (BOG)

The BOG is the governing board on campus. They are responsible for all the affairs concerning the Nebraska Wesleyan President as well as other administrative aspects of the campus. In dealing with campus affairs, the Board of Governors is split into committees. Among them are the Academic Affairs and Student Affairs. They are also monetary contributors to the University.

President's Council

President’s Council is the intermediary between the students and the president and Board of Governors. They sit on the Academic Affairs Committee and work along with them in reaching the best decisions on the material presented. President’s Council is mainly the student voice between the administration and the student. They collect feedback from the students to take to the administration on some of the projects that are going on and what should be going on. One aspect is being on a committee that works on campus improvement. They work on improving social spaces around campus.

Residence Hall Council of Chairs

The Hall Council Chair members consist of one member per residence hall. Each month of each semester they have a program planned and carried out. The programs that utilize the previous RHA funding are campus-wide and open to everyone. Each program is advertised campus-wide and is open to anyone who whishes to attend. The programs are intended to reach and educate as well as entertain the Nebraska Wesleyan University community through a wide variety of activities. Hall Council Chairs works with other organizations on campus such as Residence Life Staff, SAS, and Union Programs. Each semester the Hall Council Chairs are interested in taking trips for conferences in leadership, involvement, and community building.

Alpha Gamma Delta

Much like NWU, Alpha Gamma Delta offers a close-knit environment, where the virtues they prize most are scholarship, leadership and service. Alpha Gams strongly encourage each other to succeed in academics through various scholarship awards, study groups; faculty banquets scholarship gifts, book exchanges and registration help sessions. Alpha Gams also enjoy being involved in several different campus organizations and athletics, while remaining active off-campus by holding part-time jobs and volunteering in the community. Although they are busy with activities and schoolwork, they can always find time to lend a hand to various philanthropies. Some of their service projects include their annual Teeter-totter Marathon, Halloween parties for diabetic children, and the Greeks in the Streets.

Delta Zeta

The Beta Tau chapter of Delta Zeta is known for its outstanding academic, philanthropic and new member programs. Delta Zetas have high academic standards and maintain a house grade point average (GPA) above that of the all-female and all-campus GPA. Members are also active in a variety of on- and off-campus activities. Philanthropy projects include the Turtle Tug, Honey Sunday, Highway Cleanup, Special Olympics and the annual Spaghetti Feed. The social calendar of Delta Zetas remains full each year with a Barn Party, Hayrack Ride, formals and other events. Sisterhood and friendships are everlasting at Delta Zeta.

Omega Alpha Chi

Omega Alpha Chi presents its members with many new and exciting perspectives to fraternity life. Omega Alpha Chi is a "substance free" chapter rooted in Christian principles. Their foundation is not based on a specific denomination, but rather focuses on brotherhood, unity and personal growth and faith in Christ. Members of Omega Alpha Chi excel in all academic fields. Socially they offer a variety of different opportunities. Each year they have a fall and spring formal, date dashes and parties with live bands. They have gone water skiing, snow skiing in the Rockies and played pinball as well as competing in their annual alumni golf tournament. Leadership and campus involvement are also very important to them.

Omega Chi Rho

"Forever Christ" - This is the meaning of the name Omega Chi Rho and the purpose of the sorority. As the youngest sorority on Nebraska Wesleyan University's campus, the cornerstone of Omega Chi Rho is Jesus Christ. Their purpose is to build lasting friendships within the sorority and share with NWU and the surrounding community who Christ is and why they believe in Him as their Savior. They do not follow a certain denomination, but are more interested in unity and fellowship as a sorority in Jesus Christ. Their activities include both spring and winter formals, a Valentine's Day Dessert for women, and philanthropy opportunities at a Lincoln nursing home.

Theta Chi

At Theta Chi, we stress academics, resulting in some of the highest grades on campus. Academics aren't the only thing we stress in our chapter; we like to have fun too! Willard

Willard sorority is proud to call itself local. We are the oldest and largest local sorority in the United States and have been an active chapter at NWU for over 110 years. The women of Willard are known for their outgoing, open and fun personalities. Willard has an aura of acceptance and diversity that is displayed in our involvement on campus. Willard's strong sense of sisterhood is a key asset that adds to our involvement in both campus and community activities. Our sisters participate in a range of activities such as Student Affairs Senate, Union Programs, Order of Omega, sports and academic honoraries. We take pride in our philanthropic activities which include a Rock-a-Thon for the Make a Wish Foundation and providing Christmas gifts for local needy children.

Zeta Psi

Zeta Psi prides itself on its commitment to academic excellence. The men of Zeta Psi have a very diverse group of academic fields with majors in several different areas. Their grades reflect their commitment to academics. Zeta Psi's grade point average (GPA) is higher than the campus men's GPA. Here at Wesleyan their chapter is the winner of several Order of Excellence awards, the highest honor given to local chapters by Zeta Psi International. They also have members in many different campus activities. Zeta Psi members represent every NWU intercollegiate sport as well as organizations such as Board of Governors and New Student Orientation (NSO). Zeta Psi offers a vast and diverse social calendar. Some of their events include Bowery, a Zete tradition from the Prohibition Era, Zeteful Dead, a spring formal at the Embassy Suites in Kansas City, and a healthy amount of date parties and weekend house parties.

Alpha Mu Gamma

Alpha Mu Gamma is the Modern Languages Honorary. Early in the fall semester and late in the spring semester, AMG sponsors an international potluck dinner to which international students are also invited. AMG members, faculty members, and alumni gather in a professor's home and share international food, music, and stories. It is an opportunity for students with international interests to meet each other. They also sponsor a study abroad sharing evening early in the spring semester. This is open to all students interested in study abroad programs and features AMG members speaking about their own study abroad and work abroad experiences.

Alpha Sigma Lambda

Alpha Sigma Lamda is a national honor society for nontraditional students. The Iota Rho chapter at Nebraska Wesleyan was chartered in the spring of 1995. Since then 50 students have been inducted into ASL. There have also been 32 honorary members inducted. These members include faculty, staff, and administrators who have demonstrated strong support for the academic recognition of adult students.

Beta Beta Beta

Beta Beta Beta, the biology honorary, serves to stimulate interest and investigation in biological sciences and to promote dissemination of information and new interpretations among students of the life sciences. Members of Tri-Beta are students majoring in Biology who have completed at least 16 hours of biology courses, maintaining a biology GPA of 3.4 and an overall GPA of 3.2. New members are inducted twice each year. Meetings are held each month, with guest speakers in the biological sciences arranged by the officers.

Blue Key

The purpose of Blue Key is to identify outstanding male students with potential for development into active citizens, community leaders, and loyal informed alumni. Juniors and senior males are selected by current Blue Key members, based on their achievements in extracurricular activities, leadership, scholarship, and service to their communities. Normally, candidates must rank in the upper 35% of their class.

Cardinal Key

Cardinal Key is the women's academic honorary on campus. To be considered, candidates must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Members are selected based on campus and community leadership as well as commitment to volunteer service. Among other projects, Cardinal Key annually sponsors a fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

PEK is a national professional fraternal honorary for individuals engaged in or pursing careers in health, physical education, recreation, dance, human performance, exercise science, sports medicine and sport management. Sigma Theta Tau

Sigma Theta Tau is the only international nursing honorary. The organization promotes nursing leadership, scholarship and service. The Nu Rho Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau was officially chartered in 1993. The nursing faculty of Nebraska Wesleyan University were all charter members. Nursing students from Nebraska Wesleyan University and Union College who qualify scholastically for membership in Sigma Theta Tau are inducted annually.

Brass Ensemble

The University Brass Ensemble is comprised of Nebraska Wesleyan University students and varies in instrumentation from large to small, depending upon the requirements of the literature being performed. The Brass Ensemble performs a wide variety of music, from classical to pop. On occasion, the ensemble includes percussionists as well. The group performs one concert each semester on campus, and frequently performs off campus, at such venues as the lighting of the State Christmas tree at the Nebraska State Capital.

Chamber Singers

This is a small mixed choral ensemble with 18-22 auditioned singers participating. Music and non-Music majors traditionally participate. The fall semester is dedicated to presenting the Elizabethan Feast, a madrigal feast presentation involving music, dance, comedia, early instruments and period costumes. During the spring semester, the ensemble performs a wide variety of music from madrigals, vocal jazz, gospel, broadway to twentieth century chamber music.

Flute Ensemble

Flute ensemble is for anyone who enjoyed playing flute in high school and would like to continue playing in a group situation. We rehearse an hour a week and perform on the ensemble concert at the end of each semester. You will have an opportunity to learn the alto flute or bass flute if you are interested. Often there are other performance opportunities off-campus during the semester.

Lincoln Civic Choir is an adult choral ensemble of singers from Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas. The choir presents a concert series annually and is in residence at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Enrolled NWU students may participate in the Civic Choir with permission from Civic Choir Music Director.

Lincoln Civic Orchestra

The Lincoln Civic Orchestra is a symphonic orchestra comprised of the finest amateur musicians from Lincoln and the surrounding communities. The orchestra serves as both a community ensemble and as the University orchestra, with membership open to all Nebraska Wesleyan University students. The orchestra performs three concerts a year in O'Donnell Auditorium on the campus of Nebraska Wesleyan University and travels to other communities with concert presentations. The orchestra's concerts consist of repertoire from the standard orchestral literature and guest soloists are frequently featured. One of the hallmarks of the LCO is its spirit of collaboration with other arts organizations to create unique concert opportunities.

The Department of Music offers Opera Scenes/Opera Workshop to give students experience with age-appropriate operatic repertoire. Topics covered include acting for opera, audition skills, stage movement, character development, performance preparation and profiling, memorization, score study, and directing.

The NWU Recorder Consort is composed of mainly students who enjoy early music. The group performs with the Chamber Singers for the Medieval Feaste presentations in November/December and on a formal concert in the spring. They have also done some demonstrations for grade schools in the area.
