Wesleyan Wheels
Wesleyan Wheels is Nebraska Wesleyan University's
safe ride program for all students. It is funded by student
fees and administered through the Student Affairs Senate.
Nebraska Wesleyan University contracts with Servant Cab Company
to provide one-way rides for Nebraska Wesleyan University
students from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. seven days a week. Students
must show a validated student identification card to be eligible
for transport. Rides will be provided to the student's registered
home or school address within the Lincoln city limits.
The President of SAS will appoint the Wesleyan
Wheels Coordinator in April of each year. The Coordinator
will serve from date of appointment until the next Wesleyan
Wheels Coordinator is appointed. The Coordinator's responsibilities
include:
- working with the President of SAS and NWU's
Vice President for Administration to complete the annual
agreement between Nebraska Wesleyan University and Servant
Cab Company to provide safe rides for all Nebraska Wesleyan
students
- communicating regularly with the Vice President
for Administration and with Servant Cab Company to be sure
that all policies and procedures are followed
- serving as Chair of the Wesleyan Wheels
Committee
- communicating regularly with SAS about
the program, including providing a formal report to SAS
every semester
- coordinating publicity and communication
about Wesleyan Wheels, including responding to Wesleyan
Wheels email
- coordinating with the NSO staff to provide
Wesleyan Wheels stickers and information during New Student
Orientation
- arranging for distribution of Wesleyan
Wheels stickers at appropriate locations throughout the
year
- ensuring that all bills are paid, providing
regular budget reports and requesting the annual budget
for the program
- providing monthly statistics about student
usage to the President of SAS, and the Vice President for
Student Affairs
- serving as a member of the Nebraska Wesleyan
Coalition for Alcohol Awareness and Education
- engaging in other activities related to
Wesleyan Wheels as they arise
The Wesleyan Wheels Coordinator will serve as Chair of the Wesleyan Wheels Committee, members of which will be appointed by the SAS President, and which will include a representative from the PRE Committee, and other students who express interest in being involved with this program.
Staff support for Wesleyan Wheels will be provided through the Office of Student Affairs, specifically through the Administrative Assistant to the Vice President.
