Academic Honoraries

Nebraska Wesleyan boasts 25 academic honor societies representing multiple disciplines. A full list, including selection criteria, where available, appears below.

Alpha Kappa Delta (sociology honorary)
Membership requirements at Nebraska Wesleyan:

1. Sociology major
2. Junior status or above
3. Overall 3.00 GPA or above
4. Being in the top 35% of respective class
5. 3.00 GPA or above in sociology and anthropology courses
6. Completion of at least four courses in Sociology

Alpha Mu Gamma (language honorary)

Alpha Sigma Lambda (nontraditional student honorary)

Beta Beta Beta (biology honorary)
Membership requirements at Nebraska Wesleyan:

1. Students majoring in Biology
2. Completed at least 16 hours of biology courses
3. Maintain a biology GPA of 3.40 and an overall GPA of 3.20

Blue Key (male honorary)

1. Male
2. Junior Status or above
3. Be in top 35% of respective class
4. Based on leadership, scholarship, service and extracurricular activities

Cardinal Key (female honorary)

1. Female
2. Junior Status or above
3. An overall GPA of 3.5
4. Based on leadership and service on campus and in the community

Delta Mu Delta (business honorary)
Membership requirements at Nebraska Wesleyan:

1. By invitation
2. Completion of one-half of the work for the degree
3. A GPA of 3.25 in all courses taken
4. Being in the top 20% of respective class
5. Being of junior or senior standing

Kappa Delta Pi (teacher education honorary)

Kappa Mu Epsilon (mathematics honorary)
Membership requirements at Nebraska Wesleyan:

1. Completing at least three semesters at Wesleyan and ranking in the top 35% of his or her class
2. Completing at least 3 courses in math at the Math 30 level or above with an average grade of B or higher

Lambda Phi Eta (speech communication honorary)

National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH)

Omicron Delta Epsilon (economics honorary)

Order of Omega (Greek honorary)

Phi Alpha (social work honorary)

1. Declared social work as a major
2. Achieved sophomore status
3. Completed eight semester hours of required social work courses
4. Achieved an overall GPA of 3.00 or above
5. Achieved a 3.25 GPA or above in required social work courses

Phi Alpha Theta (history honorary)
(Tau Xi Chapter, Nebraska Wesleyan University)
Membership Requirements at Nebraska Wesleyan:

1. Undergraduate students must complete at least 12 semester hours in History (4 courses) with a GPA of at least 3.4 in History
2. Have a GPA of 3.2 or better overall
3. Students must have completed one 200-level history course
4. Membership is not limited to History majors.

Membership requirements at Nebraska Wesleyan:

1. Completion of at least three semesters of college
2. Completion of nine semester hours of psychology
3. Registration for a major (psychology, business psychology, biopsychology) or minor in psychology
4. An overall GPA of 3.00
5. Rank in the upper 35% of their class
6. A minimum GPA in psychology courses of 3.00
7. High standards of personal behavior
8. Psi Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Psychological Society (APS).

Sigma Pi Sigma (physics honorary)
Membership requirements at Nebraska Wesleyan:

1. Character and academic and professional attainments (is not restricted to physics majors)
2. All members-elect shall have completed at least the equivalent of three semesters of full-time college work
3. All members-elect shall have completed at least three semesters of courses in physics, totaling at least 12 credit hours, which may be credited toward a physics major.
4. All members-elect shall have attained at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 system for physics courses and for cumulative course grades in all courses
5. All members-elect shall rank in the upper one third of their college class
