University Minister

Rev. Mara Bailey
University Minister
(402) 465-2398
mbailey@NebrWesleyan.edu

Rev. Mara Bailey was involved with campus ministry at her undergraduate college, Simpson College in Iowa. That experience sparked her interest in ministry in the United Methodist Church. After completing her religious studies degree, she went on to study at Perkins School of Theology in Dallas, Texas. Upon her completion of seminary in December 2009, Bailey learned of the university minister position at NWU.

“I am very interested in the smaller, supportive community of faculty, staff, and students at NWU,” she said. “The ability to connect with students one on one is something I valued from my own undergraduate experience.”

Bailey has already begun exploring new ways to expand campus ministry involvement with students. “I would like to connect with other campus organizations such as FCA and Campus Crusade to combine efforts,” she said. “Many students are looking to be active.”

She plans to increase involvement and spiritual growth through mission programs and service learning projects. She also hopes to advance growth with Thursday chapel and build the intern program to expand leadership roles. Bailey also plans to explore avenues that will connect campus ministry to existing communities like the residence halls.

Bailey’s office is located in Old Main 106. She can be reached by calling x2398 or email mbailey@nebrwesleyan.edu.
