Mission: 

These classes work with predominantly ELL families. They are set to educate the whole family. One of the main goals is to get parents to read to their kids. The classes take place at 10 different schools in Lincoln where the parents go to school with the students.

All programs work with ELL students and their families
·      Elliott Elementary: Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 9-11am. Brief training/orientation meeting with classroom teacher. Contact Kaitly Palacios at kaitlynpalacios@gmail.com or 402-318-047.
·      Work with level one 1st and 2nd graders on reading, writing or vocabulary. Any day, any time except 11-12. Contact Jennifer Delka at jdelka@lps.org
·      Small groups of 1st graders working on writing, high frequency word work, vocabulary, and reading comprehension activities. 9-9:45 or 1:50-2:35 any day. Contact Terri Johnson at tjohnso@lps.org
·      Asian Center: Mondays and Wednesdays from 9am-noon, Fridays 9-11am, and one Saturday a month 10am-noon. Contact Miranda Ducey at miranda@lincolnasiancenter.org or 402-477-3446. Possibly assist a newly resettled group of refugees from different ethnic groups in Burma.
·      Clinton Elementary: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8:35-10:35am. One-hour slots. Help with basic writing as students work in class, help with basic computer skills, read stories with students. Contact Clare Nelson at cenlson3@lps.org or 402-436-1131.
·      Arnold Elementary: Monday-Friday 11:00-4:00 and some evenings. Adult ESL assistant, ELL classroom helper, assist parents with classroom volunteering, help with parent involvement. Contact Leesa Kraeger at lkraege@lps.org or 402-651-6412

·      Park Middle School: Contact Josh Cramer for more information. jcramer@lps.org.
·      Campbell Elementary: Listen to a student read, work on writing skills, work on sight words and phonics skills.  
·      Any day from 9-10, 10-11, 11:50-12:35 or 1:25-2:25. No more than one volunteer per hour. Contact Chris Martin at cmmartin@lps.org or 402-477-4024
·      Fredstrom Elementary: Same description as Campbell, Any day 1:25-2:30. Contact Chris Martin (see above)
·      Everett Elementary: Monitor/guide pairs of 4th/5th grade students with their fluency practice. Monday-Friday 10:25-11:35 or 1-2. Contact Jessica Capuano at jcapuan@lps.org
·      2nd grade ELL 8:30-10:30 - Help students with writing, repeated reading of guided reading books for fluency practice. Contact Sheila Johnson at sjohnso5@lps.org or 402-436-1159
·      3rd grade ELL 1:35-2:45 - Repeated reading with small groups of 3rd grade students, practicing sight words, and spelling words. Contact Sheila Johnson (see above)
·      Calvert Elementary: Help 1 or 2 students with reading, high frequency practice and letters in 1st grade and kindergarten.  Tues, Wed, or Thurs 8-9:35. Contact Andrea Creswell at acreswe@lps.org
·      Holmes Elementary: Reading a book, conversation and help with cursive writing with second graders. Mondays and Tuesdays 10:30-11:15. Contact Marj Lamberson at mlamber@lps.org
·      Help 1st graders with reading and writing - 12-1 Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Contact Andrea Creswell (see above)
·      Roper Elementary: Working with a level 1 ELL in phonics, reading, speaking and listening. Monday-Thurs 8:25-10.  Work with 2nd graders in phonics and extra reading. Any day 11:35-1:30. Contact Deb Storz at dstorz@lps.org or 402-436-1170
