Mission: 

Emerald Communities has provided assisted living for people with memory loss in small home-like settings since 1996 in our Independence Houses. In January 2012 we opened an end of life care home, the Autumn House, for individuals on Hospice. We’re looking for caring and compassionate volunteers to join our team in helping to enhance the quality of life for our residents with memory loss and provide support and comfort to those facing the end of life.

Independence House Activity Assistants Volunteers are needed to assist our Activity Directors at our Independence Houses with daily planned group activities that enhance the social, emotional and spiritual needs of our residents through support and companionship. On occasion assistants may plan, organize and implement activities as requested. Volunteers are also needed to accompany residents on scheduled field trips and to provide one-on-one companionship.
Independence House General Volunteers Volunteers are needed to assist our Independence House residents in living life to the fullest by engaging them in conversation, reading, singing, walking, exercising, and gardening, devotions, playing games, arts and crafts, sharing a hobby or exploring a new one. The possibilities are limitless and the rewards are priceless!! Autumn House General Volunteers Volunteers are needed to provide one on one support to our residents facing the end of life. Reading, talking, singing, hand massages and companionship are only a few of the ways a volunteer can bring comfort and peace to those on their final journey.

Legal requirements: 
background checks with State Patrol and APS/CPS
Comments: 
We do have all volunteer applicants fill complete an application and we do background checks with State Patrol and APS/CPS. I do a brief interview and tour them at the house of their choice or where we have the most need.
