Mission: 

Heartland Big Brothers Big Sisters exists to improve and enhance the quality of life for children in Lancaster County. Its mission is to provide support and friendship through one-to-one companion relationships between children (ages 7-18) and adult volunteers. The objective of these relationships is to help children develop the self-esteem and life skills to achieve their highest potential. Children must live in Lancaster or Saline County and primarily reside in single parent/limited income households.

James Arthur Vineyard Renaissance Fair - Saturday, May 18 from 12-8pm. Looking for 100 volunteers to help - 2 hour shifts at various game/craft booths, gate fee. Contact Shawn Kean at skean@hbbbs.org or 402-464-2227 ext.212

Community Based Mentoring: Volunteers are matched with a Little Brother or Sister and they create memories and have a good time Mentor A Child With Incarcerated Parents: Volunteers are matched with with children who have one or both parents in federal or state prison. Provided with training and support. School Based Mentoring: Volunteers and children meet at the Little's school for one hour each week throughout the school year and work on schoolwork, play on computers, read together, play board games, or just spen time talking. One hour each week working on reading skills has a positive impact on the child's attitude about school nd academich achievement while putting a little fun and extra meaning into the volunteer's day and week. All meetings take place during the school day or during after-school programs at a time convenient for both the volunteer and youth.

It would be helpful if the students let us know earlier that they were getting credit. Waiting list activites, seasonal fundraisers, clerical help needed.
