Mentor for Foster Youth:
CEDARS is currently looking for adults, age 23 and up, to spend time as mentors for adolescent you living in foster care. Mentors will be matched with youth based on preferences, interests, and location. Mentors are asked to have contact a minimum of twice per month and participate in our Teens with Mentors support group offered once per month. A year's commitment to the youth is also requested to avoid more disruptions and disappointments for the youth. Youth living in CEDARS foster homes have been removed from their parents, often due to family crisis, abuse and/or neglect. They face many challenges and rely on adults to help them navigate life's difficulties. Mentors will work in partnership with the CEDARS foster care staff, and foster parents to provide youth with meaningful and enjoyable activities and provide support for school, social and life success! Mentors must be able to pass background checks, a drug test,& provide three references and have a valid driver's license.
