Instructions for Connecting to the Internet
** An Ethernet Cable is Needed to Connect to the Wired Network**
*** A Wireless Card Must Be Installed on Your
Computer to Connected to the Wireless Network ***
For Windows Vista-
See if TCP/IP is installed:
1. Start (Blue Circle with Windows Logo)
2. Type Network or 2. Click Network
3. Select Network and Sharing Center
4. Select Manage Network Connections (List on Left Side)
5. Right Click on Local Area Connection [To Configure Wireless, Right Click on Wireless Connections, Still Follow the Next Steps]
6. Select Properties
7. Continue to step 8.
For Windows 2000 or Windows XP-
See if the TCP/IP is installed:
1. Click Start
2. Select Settings
3. Select Control Panel
4. Select Network and Internet Connections
5. Then Select Network Connections
6. Right Click on Local Area Connections [To Configure Wireless, Right Click on Wireless Connections, Still Follow the Next Steps]
7. Select Properties
Continue to Step 8.
8. Click on “Internet Protocol” [If Multiple Exist, Use Version 4]
9. Select Properties
10. In the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties” window:
a. Make sure “Obtain an IP Address Automatically”
is Selected (Checked)
b. Make sure “Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically”
is Selected (Checked)
11. Click Advanced (in the “Internet Protocol Properties” window)
→ Another Window Should Open, the “Advanced TCP/IP Settings”
12. Select the DNS Tab
13. Make Sure “Register the Connections Address in DNS” is not Selected (Unchecked)
14. Click OK to Close the “Advanced TCP/IP Settings” Window
15. Click OK to Close the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties” Window
16. Click Close to Close the “Local Area Connection Properties” Window.
17. You Might Be Prompted to Restart Your Computer
For Mac OS X:
1. Go into System Preferences
2. Select Network
3. Under the “Show” Dropdown Menu, Select “Built-in Ethernet”
4. Select the TCP/IP Tab
5. Under the “Configure” Dropdown Menu, Select “Using DHCP”
6. Click Apply Now
