RN to MSN Application Process

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

  • RN to MSN Application Form (view and print) and $50 application fee.
  • A cumulative transfer GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • An official transcript from the school of nursing and each college or university attended.
  • Complete the following nursing prerequisites with a grade of B or above:
    • English (3 hrs.)
    • Anatomy and Physiology* (8 hrs.)
    • Microbiology* (4 hrs.)
    • General Chemistry* (4 hrs.)
    • Introductory Psychology (3 hrs.)
    • General Sociology (3 hrs.)
    • *Must include laboratory
  • Copy of of unencumbered active Nebraska or compact state nursing license.
  • Signed Technical Standards Form.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Two letters of support verifying academic and professional abilities from education or work–related associates (an instructor or supervisor preferred).
  • Graduation from a NLNAC–accredited nursing program with a diploma or an associate degree in nursing.
  • Complete a personal interview with the nursing faculty.
  • One year of experience working as a registered nurse within the last three years.
  • Complete 15 hours of NWU general education requirements in addition to prerequisites.

APPLICATION TIMELINE

  • All application materials are due to NWU three weeks before the session start date in which the student will enroll
  • NWU mails acceptance letters within two weeks of all application materials being received
  • Students must notify NWU that he/she accepts position in MSN class two weeks prior to the class start date
