Database Description

Full-text journal backfile articles from humanities and social sciences periodicals. Subjects include history, literature, languages, mathematics, African-American studies, business, economics, finance, philosophy and anthropology, among others.

JSTOR Global Plants

The largest of its kind, Global Plants is a community-contributed database where worldwide herbaria can share their plant type specimens, experts can determine and update naming structures, students can discover and learn about plants in context, and a record of plant life can be preserved for future generations.  Global Plants contains the contributed collections of more than 300 herbaria from around the globe. Researchers and students can also access reference works and primary sources—such as collectors’ correspondence and diaries, paintings, drawings, and photographs—contributed by partners. Highlights include reference works and books such as The Useful Plants of West Tropical Africa and Flowering Plants of South Africa; illustrations from Curtis's Botanical Magazine; and Kew’s Directors' Correspondence comprising hand-written letters and memorandum from the senior staff of Kew from 1841 to 1928. - from JSTOR Global Plants

Kiplinger Special Service

Contains current news headlines and summary daily reports. Digital back issues of Kiplinger letter; Kiplinger's Washington letter, Kiplinger's Tax Letter, Kiplinger's Agriculture Lette, Kiplinger's California Letter, and Kiplinger's Personal Finance Adviser are available. Provides links to financial, economic, and regulatory business resources.

MLA Directory of Periodicals

MLA Directory of Periodicals: The MLA Directory of Periodicals offers detailed information on over 7,100 journals, with 4,400 currently indexed in the International Bibliography. The detailed entries include editorial contact information, as well as frequency, circulation, subscription prices and submission guidelines.

MLA International Bibliography

MLA International Bibliography offers a detailed bibliography of journal articles, books and dissertations. Produced by the Modern Language Association (MLA), the electronic version of the bibliography dates back to the 1920s and contains over 2.3 million citations from more than 4,400 journals & series, and 1,000 book publishers. –Ebsco Website

Music Index

Featuring digitized content from 1970 to the present, the Music Index contains cover-to-cover indexing and abstracts of articles about music, musicians and the music industry for more than 480 periodicals. It also provides selective coverage for more than 200 periodicals.

Naxos Music Library

Naxos Music Library is the world's largest online classical music library. Currently, it offers streaming access to more than 25,370 CDs with more than 362,900 tracks. On average, 500 new CDs are added to the library every month.

The library offers the catalogs of more than 50 classical, jazz and world music labels with more labels joining every month.

Nebraska Wesleyan Picture and Archive Collection

Nebraska Wesleyan Picture Archive is a collection of digitized photographs featuring campus buildings, students, faculty, and life in general at Nebraska Wesleyan University throughout the years.  The collection is updated daily.


A collection of databases, full-text articles, and web resources compiled and maintained by the Nebraska Library Commission. Topics vary, covering the humanities, social sciences, general sciences, education, among others.

Newspaper Source Plus

Provides more than 1,000 full-text newspapers, providing more than 39 million full-text articles. This database contains comprehensive full text for major newspaper. Some titles are: Christian Science Monitor, San Francisco Chronicle,  The Sydney Morning Herald (Australia), The Times (UK),Toronto Star, USA Today, The Washington Post, The Washington Times (DC), The Philadelphia Inquirer, Houston Chronicle, Star Tribune (Minneapolis).

Oxford English Dictionary Online

Indexes papers included in every congress, conference, exposition, workshop, symposium, and meeting received at The British Library. This resource is updated 24 times a year.

Philosopher's Index

1940 - current

The Philosopher's Index, considered the most thorough index of journal literature on the subject, features author-written abstracts covering scholarly research published in journals and books, including contributions to anthologies and book reviews. The database covers the fifteen fields of philosophy and contains research published since 1940 including nearly 570 journals from 43 countries with content representing a variety of languages."
