Nebraska Wesleyan will host its second annual "Bowls for Backpacks" Empty Bowls fundraiser. Funds support the Food Back of Lincoln's BackPack Program, which sends identified low income children home from school on Fridays with backpacks full of a weekend's worth of healthy food for their entire families.
Local artists and students are making hundreds of ceramic bowls for the event. Attendees will select a bowl for a soup lunch. The bowl is kept as a reminder of the ongoing fight against hunger.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Career & Counseling Center or contact Lauren Williams at 402.465.7556. Tickets are also available at Heartland Pantry, located at 48th Street and Leighton Ave.
The luncheon will be held in the student center dining hall.
